Uco Valley, Argentina - 14% abv
This Malbec is sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, with vines averaging around twenty-five years. The wine is deep, with rich, dark ruby to purple hues. On the nose there are ripe black fruits (think plum, blackberry, and black cherry), there are floral violet undertones, and spiced cocoa hints. These notes are complemented by the vanilla and subtle oak toast.
On the palate the body is full, with velvety tannins, good structure, a balanced acidity. A long, harmonious finish showcases the oak influence which is well integrated - not overpowering.
This wine would work beautifully if paired with rich sauces such as peppercorn, mushroom, or a red wine reduction. The perfect partner to grilled or charred red meats: ideally rib-eye steak, sirloin, skirt steak.
